AOI 3D - Automatic Optical Inspection
Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) is a standard quality-control procedure in PCB assembly. Using 2D and 3D imaging, AOI equipment inspects visible solder joints and helps assess whether the assembly meets the defined inspection criteria.
Optical inspection enables us to identify potential defects and deviations from the specified PCB assembly requirements at an early stage. When an issue is detected, our team can review it and make corrections promptly where appropriate.
AOI is an important part of the PCB assembly process, particularly in serial production. Early identification of non-conforming assemblies helps prevent them from progressing to the next production stage.
X-RAY
As electronic components become smaller and PCB assemblies more complex, optical inspection alone may not be sufficient to assess hidden solder joints and internal component features. X-ray inspection complements AOI by allowing us to examine areas that cannot be seen optically, without dismantling the assembly. This provides additional insight into the production process and supports consistent product quality.
ASZ uses an X-ray inspection system to monitor its own production processes. We also provide X-ray inspection as a separate service on request, whether the assembly was manufactured at ASZ or by another supplier.
Scope of X-RAY services:
- Inspection of PCB assemblies up to 460 × 340 mm
- Assessment of solder joints, including bridges, voids and through-hole solder fill
- Assessment of internal component structures
- Image documentation and a report based on the criteria agreed for the project
- Custom inspection scopes for specific requirements
- Turnaround of up to 48 hours from receipt of the samples at our facility
